FCM Travel Solutions’ Middle East and Africa (MEA) region are celebrating what has been a year of immense growth in 2017.
Ciarán Kelly, FCM’s General Manager for MEA said that 2017 had been a period of transformation for the region, with expansion and innovation at the centre of the travel management company’s overall strategy.
“2017 saw us invest in our people to support our growth - we currently have over 20 Business Development Managers helping build awareness of FCM across MEA,” said Ciarán.
Client growth across MEA
Through focussed business development, account management activity and our client success stories, FCM has achieved a strong reputation in the Middle East and Africa region as a travel partner of choice and in 2017 successfully signed on several high profile clients, at both local and regional levels. In the last 12 months FCM won new corporate clients to the value of approximately $75 million USD, including Coca Cola Beverages Africa, who operate across more than 14 countries in Africa.
The team also won the business of rapidly expanding chauffer driving company, Careem, in over ten markets and will deploy self-booking travel and mobile technology to enhance and improve the experience for Careem employees. Taking their partnership to another level, FCM is also the first travel management company in the region to sign a contract with Careem to offer their services to FCM’s clients as part their travel management services with exclusive advantages for their customers.
At the beginning of December 2017, FCM was appointed to manage the global travel of Orica Limited in over 50 countries. FCM MEA will play a large role in supporting Orica, who will be one of FCM's largest customers worldwide. In addition, FCM will manage the travel business for the luxury fashion brand Prada for their business across several countries in the Middle East, an extension of a relationship with Prada and FCM in Europe.
Supporting the organic growth of FCM’s existing global clients into the MEA region was another major success for the team and worth $4 million USD value. FCM MEA helped grow the operations of 16 national and multinational clients including Amadeus, Bosch and Bureau Veritas into new FCM countries.
Leading technology for travellers, bookers, and managers
Globally, FCM is evolving its technology offering to provide unique services and experiences to travellers, bookers and managers. FCM Connect is the next-generation technology suite that is transforming the business travel process and taking travel management to the next level.
The suite launched in MEA in September 2017, exciting FCM’s existing customers and prospects. It was showcased to hundreds of travel buyers and industry at the first ever Pakistan Travel Mart show in Karachi in November.
Recognition on a world stage
In October FCM was named Middle East's Leading Travel Management Company at the World Travel Awards for the sixth time, since first being awarded in 2012. “Receiving the award for another year is testament to the exceptional travel management services, professionalism and value that our people provide for clients throughout in the Middle East,” said Ciarán.
A focus on giving back
FCM MEA have partnered with Kiva, an international non-profit organisation with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Over 36 loans have been funded from 20 staff in the UAE, across 24 countries and 10 industries. “These small loans help celebrate and support people looking to create a better future for themselves, their families and their communities. It’s a great initiative to help those not only in the Middle East and Africa region but also further abroad living in countries where FCM operates. Our aim is to champion and roll out this programme to more FCM markets in 2018,” said Ciarán.
